After over a year of hard work, Child Refuge is publishing its first book, a novel entitled "The Glimpse". I wrote it as a fictional account of what our nation and world would look like if Christian youth continue to leave the church in droves. However, the story is based on a real dream my wife, Nikki, had in 2007. The dream was so powerful that it changed the direction of our lives, and played a part in the birth of Child Refuge. We pray that the story will be equally as powerful to those who read it.
The numbers differ depending on what denomination you talk to, or what report you read, but on average 70%-80% of Christian youth leave the church by the time they reach college age. A few come back later on in life, but most never do. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that, at this rate, it won't be long before the church is extinct, at least in America.
As the church is dying out, it is not surprising to see an increase in the moral decay of American society, especially in the sexualization and exploitation of children and youth. As purveyors of truth, love, mercy and justice, we believe Christians should be on the forefront of the battle to save the innocence of youth and children, yet all too often we are in the background.
Our prayer is that this book will impact lives and hearts, and that it will help the church to wake up...before it's too late.
